Whether you’re a trans woman or an admirer, if you’re looking for information and support about transgender issues, the internet can be a great place to start.
Here are some of the most popular and helpful forums and sites for finding support:
Running since 2006, Susan’s Place is an excellent site for transgender people and their supporters. The forums are active and friendly, on many different topics ranging from politics and entertainment news to transitioning, crossdressers, and intersex talk. You’ll also find a forum just for significant others to discuss their challenges and issues.
This site is a bit of an eyesore but it’s what’s inside that counts. Run by Laura, a pre-op transexual, Laura’s Playground provides information and support for transgenders and their friends and family. You’ll find helpful articles, news posts, the Laura’s Playground forum, and online chat meetings for very specific groups and topics. An excellent place to talk with like-minded people.
I only found this resource recently although their pages seem to have been online a long time. It’s a great place to start out for anyone who is transitioning. It has very organized information regarding the physical changes, legal and social issues that come with transitioning. Note that the author states that the site’s information is “specifically about passing and about being able to exercise the option of stealth.”
