Transgender model Munroe Bergdorf is back in the the headlines, raising temperatures in her stunning little itty bitty lingerie outfits.
Bergdorf has teamed up with Bluebella Lingerie for her first lingerie modeling campaign. “This is a lingerie campaign championing female empowerment, no matter what your size, shape, sexuality, race or gender identity.”
The lingerie campaign isn’t just a great opportunity to show off her sexy body, but a giant middle finger to rival Victoria’s Secret. Bergdorf is taking aim at the company for an off the cuff comment last year, insinuating that they didn’t currently use plus-size models or trans models because it wasn’t what the audience wanted to see. The CEO saying that the show was “fantasy” was roundly criticized, and a group of plus-size women even stripped down to bras and knickers to gather in protest of the offense.
Now trans model Munroe is on the offensive, championing Bluebella as the inclusive lingerie line.
“I’m proud to be part of a campaign that is encouraging all women to feel empowered and sexy in their own ways, on their own terms,” she told Pink News. “All women are the fantasy, no exception.”
It’s not the first time that Bergdorf has been on the attack. She lost a modeling contract with L’Oreal last year after accusing the company and co-workers of being racist, along with public statements that all white people are racist, “Your entire existence is drenched in racism. From micro-aggressions to terrorism, you guys built the blueprint for this shit… (the white) race is the most violent and oppressive force of nature on Earth.”
Munroe Bergdorf offended even her own mother with these statements, and was sacked from the cosmetics contract as inappropriate representative of the values of inclusivity and diversity.
Now the stunning and outspoken model is back, and scantily clad, much to our delight. But critics have already noted that the modeled lingerie line is not so inclusive after all. There aren’t any big girls modelling the teddies on the website, and there is nothing available for larger women to buy. While many plus-size women shop at specialty outlets, the claims that this line has something for them are misleading.
Bergdorf herself has been accused of modifying her black features during facial feminization surgery, and for her pale skin tone, even though she was quite dark skinned when living as her assigned-at-birth gender. She attacked Nivea cosmetics for for their shameful promotion of skin lightening products in Africa, but detractors point out that she is pale herself. Munroe says she is naturally light because she is mixed race, but critics can’t help noticing that her face was much darker several years ago.
The hotheaded hottie was also sacked from her role as transgender activist advisor for the Labour party in the UK, after homophobic social media posts came to light. Bergdorf was no stranger to anti-gay and anti-lesbian slurs.
We will see what tempestuous tweets come to light next, but hopefully there will be lots of pictures of Munroe writhing about in flimsy little affairs regardless!
