Trans Films for Date Night

Sexy Stockings in Movie Theatre

It’s date night with your TS woman, and you’d like to cuddle up and watch some flicks. There are films about the sexy, fun, and sometimes troubled world of trans women. With such a variety, you’re sure to find the right film to suit the mood of you and your girl.

From the culturally aware to the downright strange and possibly offensive, I came across some highly-rated (and not-so-highly-recommended) flicks sure to reach every funny bone, film buff, or slap-and-tickle to get the senses piqued and rolling (honestly, no pun intended).

This list is definitely not definitive, so perhaps in the coming weeks, I’ll post reviews of more TS films you can watch on date nights.

Transamerica (Adventure/Comedy, 2005) This film is a personal journey towards self-discovery. Bree is about to undergo SRS when she receives a phone call from her 17-year-old drug dealing son Toby. Bree is unaware she had a son but develops a relationship with him. The two bond through their adventures with sexuality, family strife, and a thieving peyote shaman. Cast: Felicity Huffman, Fionnula Flanagan and Kevin Zegers.

Wonder Boys (Drama/Comedy, 2000) Author Grady Tripp teaches while unsuccessfully trying to write his second novel. Grady’s third wife leaves him and through his divorce, he continues an affair with the university chancellor, who then becomes pregnant with his child. A dead dog, stolen Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, and several love triangles are sewn throughout the film to help Grady finally develop the perfect ending to his novel. Cast: Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey, Jr., Frances McDormand.

Myra Breckinridge (Comedy, 1970.) Adapted from Myra Breckinridge by Gore Vidal, a book that is considered “part of a major cultural assault on the assumed norms of gender and sexuality which swept the western world in the late 1960s and early 1970s”(1). Myron Breckinridge starts to undergo SRS to become Myra. Film Buff Myra travels to Hollywood to claim her uncle’s estate. Once there, she begins teaching classes that sexually drive her behaviour, leading her into some strange, sexually charged parties. Later, a car accident forces her to make life-altering decisions. Cast: Mae West, John Huston, Raquel Welch, Farrah Fawcett.

TransAmerica would have been a better movie with the side story her son. I wish it had focused on her from the time she realized that she was a Woman through her SRS. But it really is the best movie I have seen about a Transsexual and shows her in a human light.
